Hagan, Esq. organized and moderated more than (35) speakers for the annual Family Law Hot Tips seminar held at the law center in New Brunswick, NJ.  The seminar was attended by more than (200) attorneys and featured "hot tips" for Family Law practicing attorneys in the areas of trial techniques, Arbitration, Mediation and Collaborative Law.  Francis W. Donahue, Esq. gave a presentation entitled, "Depositions - Who, When and How?"  Frank discussed that when strategizing a family case involving financial issues, a decision must be made whom to depose, when to depose and how to conduct a deposition.

Debra S. Weisberg, Esq. and Alyssa S. Engleberg, Esq. spoke on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at "Exploring Careers in Law: A Program about Careers in Law." This seminar, presented by the Morris County Bar Foundation in association with the Boy Scouts of America, Law Explorers Program, was directed at students between the ages of 14 and 20 interested in a law career. Ms. Weisberg and Ms. Engleberg were the featured speakers on the topic of Family Law. The discussion included why they chose this field of law, as well as a basic insight into the practice area.

Donahue, Esq. moderated a seminar at the March 24, 2015 meeting of the Barry Croland Family Law Inns of Court entitled "Alimony, Palimony and Cohabitation."  The panel discussed whether the new statute and recent decisional law have changed how to present your position on these issues in settlement and in trial.  Included in the discussion was the new palimony bill and pending cases in our Appellate Courts.

Weisberg, Esq. and the Honorable Michael Paul Wright, Presiding Judge of the Family Part of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Morris County, spoke to the Law Explorer Post 22, a group consisting of teenagers interested in the law. Ms. Weisberg addressed the various types of cases heard by Judges in the Family Court, including divorce, custody and parenting time issues, equitable distribution, alimony, child support, domestic violence and enforcement of prenuptial agreements.

Debra S. Weisberg, Esq. and Stephanie Frangos Hagan, Esq. spoke at the Hot Tips in Family Law: Marriage 2013 Seminar presented by NJICLE and co-sponsored by the Family Law Section and Certified Attorneys Section. Ms. Weisberg spoke regarding custody and parenting time issues in New Jersey regarding children born from unmarried couples. She addressed the right of a party to retain an expert to prepare a custody and parenting time evaluation if necessary. Ms. Hagan spoke regarding a party’s right to relocate with children within the State of New Jersey. Ms. Hagan addressed the relevant New Jersey cases addressing the law as to under what circumstances a party may be permitted by the Court to relocate over the other party’s objections.

Stephanie Frangos Hagan, Esq. was recently published in a New Jersey State Bar Association publication. Her article, "The History of Alimony," was published in the June 2012 edition of the New Jersey Family Lawyer, a members-only publication for attorneys in the NJSBA’s Family Law Section.

The article traces alimony’s roots in New Jersey up to the most recent amendment of New Jersey’s Alimony Statute in September 1999. The Statute created the four current types of alimony, permanent, rehabilitative, reimbursement, and limited duration alimony. As the facts of every divorce are different, the four types of alimony were created to meet the support needs of divorced parties across many different divorce situations.

The article may be found in print in the June edition, Volume 33, Issue No.1.
